ARTIST STATEMENT
I invite viewers into a “rabbit hole into the imagination,” where ancestral memory, fantasy, and time converge. Through Diasporic Surrealism, my paintings become dreamlike spaces where figures in radiant shades of Black and brown move gracefully through worlds suspended between past, present, and future. They are timeless travelers—children, elders, and spirits—adorned in garments that merge history, myth, and nature.
Nature itself whispers through falling leaves, birds, and butterflies, while light and color build narratives of mystery, joy, and contemplation. Each painting is a meditation, a diary of thought, and a visual symphony of identity, spirituality, and imagination. My work seeks to reframe Black identity beyond linear time, celebrating the infinite possibilities of the mind, memory, and the human spirit. Here, the imagination is not an escape—it is a homeland.
